There are now two screen options, matte or gloss. The new not accessible battery is similar to MacBook Air which save space and has a new “adaptive” recharging technology.

DP Technology debuts ESPRIT 2009 CAM software at IMTS 2008

ESPRIT 2009 includes new, innovative, productivity enhancing technology for CNC programmers of Mills, Lathes and Wire EDM machines

Camarillo, Calif. — Aug. 25, 2008 — Computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) industry leader DP Technology debuts the latest release of its flagship product, ESPRIT® 2009, at the International Manufacturing Technology Show, or IMTS, 2008, to take place Sept. 8-13 in Chicago, Ill.

This 27th edition of the North America’s biennial premier manufacturing event is expected to feature exhibits from over 1,500 companies, and to draw an anticipated 91,000 visitors from 119 countries to Chicago’s McCormick Place complex.
IMTS 2008 will serve as a staging ground for concrete innovations, conceptual knowledge, education and the sharing of ideas in the aerospace, automotive, machine shop, medical, metal forming and fabricating, and energy industries.

ESPRIT will be shown at booth No. D-3101, at which guests will be treated to big-screen, group and one-on-one presentations of the new product, as well as specialized individual training. This year, as part of the IMTS ESPRIT Customer Appreciation Days, visitors interested in individual, special training will be given the option of choosing from several topics — including General ESPRIT, Milling, Mill-Turn, Turning, Wire EDM, or a Special Topic of your choice. Those who sign up for training will meet engineers at the ESPRIT booth, in a semi-private meeting room away from the distractions of the show floor.

The latest versions of ESPRIT CAM software are the result of DP’s effort to create balance when addressing short and long-term needs, and include a significant number of enhancements and innovative new technologies for milling, turning and wire EDM part programming. The company’s balanced focus has resulted in its consistent creation of powerful technological innovations — and has placed ESPRIT in an industry-leading position since its market launch in 1985.

Wafer Level Camera Technology

In a press release earlier this year, Tessera (TSRA) announced a new technologyOptiML™ Wafer Level Camera Technology is impressive as shown in the illustration below. for making extremely small and lower cost camera modules for devices such as camera phones, webcams and security cameras. The size reduction possible with the new technology Tessera calls

OptiML™ Wafer Level Camera

This reduction in camera size will enable designers of mobile phones and other portable products to fashion still more compact devices. The design of earlier products, particularly the thickness, has often been dictated by the height of the included camera module. Using Tessera’s technology, product designers will be free to incorporate cameras in extremely thin new designs. The reduced size and cost of camera modules will also enable designers to place cameras in entirely new product categories.

New Technology Gives Immediate Boost of 6-11% Power to Solar PV Systems

New Technology Gives Immediate Boost of 6-11% Power to Solar PV Systems

Act Solar's new product, Powerstring™ for solar PV systems cumulatively delivers an additional 40-80% total power over 25-40 years of operations
Santa Clara, CA

"PowerString is the next phase of efficiency and cost reduction for the solar industry," said Act Solar CEO and founder Andrew Foss. "To date, the solar industry has focused on lowering the upfront costs of materials, components and labor. While these efforts are critical, we know that Act Solar will further lower generation costs by improving and assuring maximum power output over the life of the array. Solar system integrators, operators and financiers will substantially lower their cost-per-kWh with PowerString."

Santa Clara, CA, FEB. 4, 2009 — Act Solar, Inc., a power management optimization company, today announced the limited availability of its flagship solar product, PowerString™ with patent-pending Injection Boost™ technology. Extensive field testing has proven that PV systems using PowerString™ initially yield 6-11% more power, and are projected to cumulatively deliver 40–80% more total power over 25–40 years of operations. The company is now seeking additional customer locations to further validate PowerString’s™ performance benefits.

Act Solar’s PowerString™ complements central inverters by dynamically re-circulating small amounts of electricity, as needed. Injection Boost actively maintains the balance of the array, which assures maximum power output.

Santa Clara University was one of the first proving grounds for PowerString™. Act Solar installed PowerString on the SCU campus’ 50kW array in 2008, and improved its power production by 16.2%.

"Introducing PowerString into our solar systems aligns well with our goal of generating as much of the campus energy as possible from renewable sources," said Joe Sugg, assistant Vice President of University Operations at SCU, and a key player in the university’s five-fold increase in the use of renewable sources of energy. "I was pleased to see that Act Solar’s PowerString improved the efficiency of our main solar array so significantly."

“PowerString is the next phase of efficiency and cost reduction for the solar industry,” said Act Solar CEO and founder Andrew Foss. “To date, the solar industry has focused on lowering the upfront costs of materials, components and labor. While these efforts are critical, we know that Act Solar will further lower generation costs by improving and assuring maximum power output over the life of the array. Solar system integrators, operators and financiers will substantially lower their cost-per-kWh with PowerString,” added Foss.

“The solar industry is quickly maturing. It is just as important that we optimize existing and new solar PV plant efficiency, as it is that we deploy new plants. Act Solar is a key player in moving the industry to the next level,” said Jigar Shah, founder of SunEdison.

AKER KVAERNER

MultiBooster™ Subsea Multi-Phase Pump System
The MultiBooster™ subsea multi-phase pump system delivers improved oil recovery and facilitates longer step-out distances between subsea assests and host facilities by lowering pressure at the reservoir and increasing pressure in the production line. Under development since 1998, the system utilizes twin-screw internals and Aker Kvaerner’s pressure-volume regulator to provide a flexible and robust subsea solution. This design provides several key benefits when handling multi-phase flow, including a wide performance envelope, low shear fluid handling, stable speed-controlled operation, and efficient slug dampening. The pump operates efficiently within a Gas Void Fraction (GVF) range of 0-95% and can maintain pressure up to 98% GVF. The pump can also operate at 100% GVF for a limited period, which aids start-up and prevents the need to prime the pump during such a scenario. With rotational speeds of typically less than 2,000 rpm there is little risk of generating emulsions, and the pump can handle very heavy and viscous fluids in excess of 1,000 centistokes. The modular design of the pump system allows for easier subsea installation and retrieval.

The MultiBooster™ pump system has been installed and is operational at the Lyell field (Scotland) with two more systems scheduled for start-up in the Gulf of Mexico early next year. Larger image
